I came across this competition for designing Tiny Houses. How fun! I knew that entering the Tiny off-grid house competition would be a great way to get some of the interesting ideas I've been contemplating, out into the world. Except for one catch. There was only two weeks to get my submission in! While it's true I work best under pressure, I was heading overseas in a few days. This was going to be a challenge for sure. I used my travel time to get started, and used a free design program called sketchup. If you haven't heard of it then definitely check it out.
The great thing about designing on a laptop is you can take it where ever you go. No being stuck to a desk anymore. Airport lobbies, planes, buses and friends living rooms where all fair game. With time running out I worked until 3 and 4 am some nights which was easy because of the time shift coming from New Zealand and having a 5 hour time difference to get used to. In the end it came down to the wire. I sent off my design with a quick write up explain each picture on the last possible minute. 12:00am on the 30th of June! My write up has all the signs of a missing proof read. The title even has an extra word! Very funny. It reads: "Tiny Solar Tiny House" when I meant it to say "Tiny Solar House" Anyways, I hope you enjoy checking out the design. Tell me what you think in the comments section.
